Signing the Protocol on Protection of Caspian Biodiversity
OREANDA-NEWS. The signing of the Protocol will enhance cooperation between the Caspian states in the protection and sustainable use of bioresouces of the Caspian Sea.

On 4 November 2003, the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea was signed in Tehran. The Convention entered into effect on 12 August 2006. The Russian Federation is a State party to the Convention.
In accordance with Clause 14 of the Convention, a Protocol on the protection and recovery of the biological resources and the ecosystem of the Caspian Sea has been drafted.
The Protocol was agreed upon with the respective federal executive bodies of the Russian Federation. The Protocol was approved by an instruction signed by the Russian Government. The Russian Ministry of Natural Resources was authorised to sign it on the part of the Russian Federation.
The signing of the Protocol will assist in
developing cooperation among the Caspian nations in the protection and
sustainable use of the biological resources of the Caspian
Sea.
