OREANDA-NEWS. For the period of 12 months in 2014, NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport served 3,957,667 passengers which is 5.6% higher than in 2013. Passenger traffic on domestic routes totalled 2,431,238 passengers, on international routes - 1,526,429 passengers.

Growth in passenger traffic on regional routes in 2014 exceeded the performance of 2013 by 19% - last year passenger traffic on regional routes totalled 368,242 passengers. Passenger traffic on flights operated within the framework of the regional air transportation subsidy programme, amounted to 44,247 passengers. Following the results of the previous year the number of transfer passengers made more than 268,000 passengers, which is 19.3% higher than in 2013. The share of transfer passengers increased up to 7%.

It is worth noting, that positive passenger traffic rates allowed to serve the three millionth passenger 18 days ahead of the previous year's result - on 26th September.

In January-December 2014, the airport handled 42,748 aircraft movements (+2.6%).

For the twelve months' period of the current year, cargo and mail traffic reached 28,639 tons.

During the year 2014 in cooperation with partner airlines Novosibirsk Tolmachevo airport launched several new routes such as Karagandy, Bratsk, Hannover, Samara, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Tyumen and others as well as increased flight frequencies on the already operating destinations such as Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Simferopol, Sochi, Bichkek and others.

Within the framework of the regional air transportation subsidy programme, the route network was extended with the flight commenced to Bratsk as well as flight frequencies increased to Gorno-Altaisk, Abakan, Kyzyl and others.

In 2015 the airport will continue the extension of route network. As expected, new routes will be opened to Seoul, Nizhny Novgorod. Flight frequencies are expected to increase on the already operating destinations such as Simferopol, Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Yakutsk, Mirny, Surgut, Novy Urengoy, Khanty-Mansiysk and others.

NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The capacity of domestic terminal makes up to 1,800 passengers per hour, while the international terminal capacity - up to 750 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways of ICAO I and II Categories.
