Formosa's Point Comfort unit restarts

OREANDA-NEWS. Formosa's Point Comfort, Texas olefins No. 2 unit is restarting today after an unexpected shutdown following a tripped process gas compressor on 13 January, according to a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

During the startup, which is expected to continue through tomorrow, vent gases will be routed to the elevated flare, according to the filing. The plant has the capability to produce up to 1.4bn lbs/yr of ethylene.
