OREANDA-NEWS. Tata Power, India's largest integrated power company, has always been committed to providing a cleaner and greener environment to the populace living around its operational areas. Continuing with this commitment, Tata Power undertook a cleanliness drive at the Aksa Beach, Mumbai by cleaning the beach and collecting close to 2 tonnes of garbage. The cleanliness drive was in line with the nationwide cleanliness campaign of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The objective of this initiative is to make people aware of the importance of cleanliness as well as inculcate a sense of consciousness amongst local residents to practice healthy sanitation etiquette. The company has always implemented initiatives to ensure conservation of available resources and spreading awareness on creation of a greener world. The cleanliness drive at Aksa Beach has helped in reinforcing the commitment where more than 50 volunteers from Tata Power joined hands and helped in cleaning the beach. During the drive, the garbage was separated as Bio-degradable and Non-biodegradable and were disposed off accordingly with the help of the local MCGM staffs.

Speaking on the initiative VK Chourey, head, transmission, Mumbai operation, Tata Power, said, "We at Tata Power have always strived hard to provide a greener, cleaner and safer environment to the society and for the future generation. The cleanliness drive at the Aksa beach is in line with the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' to further reinforce our commitment. We are delighted to see the enthusiasm and the support of our volunteers, and we pledge to adopt the mantra of cleanliness everywhere we operate. Through these initiatives we aim to energise and spread awareness among the communities on the mission to keep India clean."

The cleanliness drive at the Aksa Beach saw participation from various sections of the Borivili division of Tata Power namely DCS - O & M, Transmission, transmission lines staff and security lead by the DSS - CAPEX team. The volunteers went along with the cleanliness activity on a half day vigil and also pledged to keep their premises, surroundings and workplace clean.
