OREANDA-NEWS. Telecommunications and IT company TEO has become the first certified provider of Ethernet services in the Baltic States. This will ensure the compatibility, simplicity and guaranteed quality of data transmission networks for TEO customers.

As a result of the increasing growth of networks and data traffic, there is also a growing demand for Ethernet services. Ethernet is a widely used networking technology that allows transparent, safe and quick transmission of data between computer networks or IT systems. Due to Ethernet's flexibility, it is increasingly being used in business and industry.

"We are the first in the Baltic States to conform to the global Ethernet standards and to be capable of guaranteeing customers the highest level of services. Around the world there are many service providers whose networks are developed by using different equipment and schemes, therefore it is important that they are mutually compatible. If the services of both service providers are certified, this will ensure that their networks will be compatible with each other and customers will be able to use the same high-quality service", - Andrius Šemeškevičius, TEO Head of Technology and IT, says. He pointed out that the question about the availability of an Ethernet certificate is one of the most important questions asked by international IT and data communication companies coming to Lithuania.

TEO received the certificate from international organization Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), which develops the global standards of Ethernet services and the equipment used for their provision, as well as requirements for specialist qualifications. The MEF certificate guarantees that Ethernet services are provided using only certified, standardized equipment and a unified service management, provisioning and maintenance process.

TEO provides two Ethernet technology-based services: "L2 sprendimai taškas-taškas" ("L2 Point-to-Point Solutions") and "L2 daugiataškiai sprendimai" ("L2 Point-to-Multipoint Solutions"). The L2 solutions serve as a basis for other data transmission services provided by TEO.

The MEF-certified Ethernet service is useful for companies using and expanding integrated networks that are used to transmit not only data, but also voice and videos. The service adapts itself to existing network connections without the need for changes in corporate networks or equipment.

MEF is an organization uniting more than 220 telecommunications companies worldwide. Currently, there are more than 20 companies in Europe and about 100 companies in the world that have the Ethernet certificates granted by MEF.
