According to the agency "Auto-Dealer-SPb", the production volume of new cars in St. Petersburg plant Toyota, GM, Nissan and Hyundai vehicles was 361,400 in 2014, which is less by 8% than in 2013. In December, automakers have produced 31,600 new passenger cars - this is the best result for a month, starting from April. But in compare with December of 2013, the production fell by the same 8%.

Two-thirds (66%) of the total production comes for the plant Hyundai. Thus, the company has continued to increase its share in the St. Petersburg car industry (in 2013 it was 58%, and in the first half of 2014 - 61%).

"Last year, St. Petersburg automotive cluster avoided serious problems, only General Motors was in fever, which has reduced staff and reduced significantly the production volumes," - said General Director of "Auto-Dealer-SPb", Michael Chaplygin. - Plants began the last year with the task of updating of the model range - it was demanded by the market. Largely for this reason, three of the four companies can bring results for the year itself into an asset".

Nissan plant in March began to produce new Teana, and in December - X-Trail. Also it started the production of Nissan Pathfinder. From June Hyundai plant produced an updated Hyundai Solaris, and Toyota produces updated Camry since November. Also at General Motors it is produced now three models of Cadillac -ATS, CTS and SRX.

"In 2015, it is expected the start of production of Nissan Qashqai, it was also planned the new car from GM, but given the fact that the company will stop for two months in the spring, it is unknown when they will be produced", - says Michael Chaplygin. - "In general, for the year the production of cars in St. Petersburg can be reduced by 10-15%."

The share of the St. Petersburg car industry with respect to the all-Russian automobile production was increased. By the end of 2014 it was 21.3% compared to 20.5% in 2013.

Four car plants in St.Petersburg produced 13 car models: Chevrolet Cruze, Opel Astra, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Cadillac ATS, Cadillac CTS, Cadillac SRX, Nissan Teana, Nissan X-Trail, Nissan Murano, Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Solaris, Kia Rio. Four of them - Solaris, Rio, Camry and Cruze - entered the top-25 of best-selling car models in Russia at the end of 2014.
