OREANDA-NEWS. When work is completed, the two full barrier level crossings east and west of the station will benefit from cameras and obstacle detection, which will help to improve reliability and reduce risk for crossing users.

Dave Cartwright, operations risk advisor for Network Rail Wales, said: “Passenger demand in Wales has significantly increased in the last decade and with the potential for faster and more frequent services, we need to make these crossings safer still.

“The work that we are undertaking at Llanelli will modernise the crossings, helping to improve reliability for passengers and improve safety for crossing users.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this improvement work may cause.”

In order to carry out this work as safely and as quickly as possible, there will be two road closures in place.

Network Rail has worked closely with Carmarthenshire County Council regarding diversionary routes, which will be clearly signposted.

The east crossing road closures will be from 10pm on Friday 13 February until 6am on Monday 16 February.

The west crossing road closures will be from 10pm on Monday 16 February until 6am on Monday 9 March.
