OREANDA-NEWS. Ilim Group is completing the implementation of yet another stage of its environmental program in Bratsk, which is aimed to reduce environmental footprint and includes installation of a new scrubber at the fiberline.

The new equipment will ensure additional treatment of the gas and vapour mixture from the IMPBIN. The preparatory work to tie the scrubber in the existing process lines is nearing completion and will be followed by hydraulic tests, commissioning, and subsequent start-up of the equipment. The Company expects this work to be finished within one month.

The upgrade of Ilim's Bratsk Mill using the best available technologies has already resulted in more than a two-fold reduction of sulfur-containing gas emissions. To keep lowering its environmental footprint, Ilim Group has developed a relevant action plan which was presented by Company management to Bratsk Mayor Sergey Serebrennikov and Bratsk City Duma deputies in January 2015, and approved by the regional authorities. Apart from the installation of the scrubber under the environmental footprint reduction program in Bratsk, Ilim Group's action plan includes building of a new Soap Acidulation Plant and decommissioning of the old one, mothballing of sludge collector 2, additional treatment of sulfur-containing gases from HW line washers etc. In 2015 the Company will also take inventory of all emission sources at the Bratsk Mill. Ilim has already started implementing the relevant actions ahead of schedule.
