OREANDA-NEWS. To meet growing demand, Bosch eBike Systems has entered into a distribution partnership with Universal Transmissions GmbH from March 1, 2015. In the future, Universal Transmissions will also be supplying bicycle manufacturers with low production volumes and be their first point of contact on technical matters.

Putting synergies to use
The partnership is also intended to provide optimal service for special segments such as Enduro or cargo bikes. As the European distributor of Gates Carbon DriveTM technology, Universal Transmissions already intersects with Bosch in the bicycle business. Furthermore, CEO Karlheinz Nicolai’s company benefits from its sister company Nicolai GmbH’s valuable experience of frame design and adaptation. Nicolai and Bosch eBike Systems have collaborated successfully for several years.

A partnership from which many customers profit
Universal Transmissions will be in charge of sales itself and for many customers be their first point of contact on technical matters. “As we have already designed many different pedelecs and S-pedelecs with Bosch drive systems, our customers can benefit from this know-how. We also provide the best possible assistance with correct certification of eBikes,” says Karlheinz Nicolai. In this way all concerned will benefit from the collaboration. “This partnership lays the foundations for even more manufacturers to use our system in the future and to be served by a company that has experience in dealing with sophisticated technical issues,” says Armin Harttig, Head of Sales and Service at Bosch eBike Systems. Universal Transmissions has rented additional storage facilities and hired more staff in preparation for the new task. Sales and distribution will be throughout the EU and will also include Switzerland and Norway.
