OREANDA-NEWS. According to the Association of European Businesses, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia in February fell by 37.9% to 128,298 vehicles. According to the results of the first two months of 2015 the Russian car market fell by 32.1% to 243,826 vehicles.

As noted in the AEB, the automobile market enters a phase of sharp deceleration now, and February -it is just the beginning of the deceleration. Sales have not reached its bottom yet, so the next few months will be very difficult. At the same time, good macroeconomic news, such as the stabilization of the ruble, give hope for improvement in the long term, according to the association. According to the forecast of AEB, in 2015 the Russian car market will be 1,890,000 cars, which is less by 24% than the last year.

Leadership in the Russian car is kept by AvtoVAZ, which sold 23639 cars the last month, which is less by 23% than a year ago. Second place in terms of sales is kept by Hyundai - sales of 13233 cars (-5%) provided the Korean brand with the leadership in the market of foreign cars.

The third place is occupied by KIA with 12,563 sold cars (-6%). Then Nissan follows - cars of the brand were chosen by 9447 buyers (-45%). Renault still closes the "top five" leaders, which sold 9100 cars (-46%). The Top-10 of best-selling brands by the results of February also included Toyota (7143 units, -40%), Volkswagen (5804 units, -49%), Skoda (5618 units, -12%), Mercedes-Benz (4151 units, + 18%) and BMW (3550 units, + 6%).
