OREANDA-NEWS. Shvabe Holding developed a unique engine fuels identification card for spectrum refractometers. The card is designed to determine the major operating characteristics of fuel and to check it for compliance withGOST requirements.

The identification card is a diagram in coordinates of the index of refraction and average variance, it can be displayed on paper or electronic medium. With this card it is possible to define the octane or cetane number, the fraction of aromatic hydrocarbons, the height of sootless flame, soot deposing factor, and other parameters of gasoline, diesel or jet fuel, and other light petroleum products within a minute by using the measured values of the index of refraction and average variance.

The unique identification card is an addition to the portable spectrum refractometer, which was previously produced by the specialists of Shvabe – Tech Lab OJSC.

"Our portable equipment is highly informative. Data obtained is highly reliable. It is a great operating resource," said Nikolay Rakovich, Shvabe Deputy CEO for R&D and Innovative Development. "In addition, the price will be a significant advantage: It will be incomparably cheaper than the price of the bulky and laborious installations used currently".

The new development of the Holding will be popular among specialists of various services that conduct quality control and monitor the ecological safety of engine fuels in state control laboratories, at oil refineries, at aviation enterprises, in military units, at customs inspections points, and in vehicle maintenance centers. In addition, it will provide drivers with information about the quality of the product offered by petrol manufacturers.

In addition to the device's application as a spectrum refractometer, the identification card can be used in petrochemistry laboratories as a reference material.
