St. Petersburg plant Nissan has suspended the production for two weeks

OREANDA-NEWS. St. Petersburg plant Nissan has suspended the production of cars from March 16 to 31st. The spokesman of the Russian unit of automaker, Roman Skolsky, informed about it the agency “TASS” by noting that in order to minimize costs the plant switched to lower productivity from February, and therefore the possibility of suspending of production. "Despite the economic situation, Nissan believes the Russian automotive market is perspective and it sees in it the potential for further investment," - said Mr.Skolsky.

Earlier, Chairman of the Interregional Trade Union "Working Association", Alexei Etmanov, said that Nissan plans to cut about 400 employees of the plant in St. Petersburg. In his turn, the company reported that "the economic situation requires the optimization of costs and staff: non-renewal of temporary contracts by mutual agreement and the suspension of recruitment." How many individual employees may be affected by this process, the company did not specify.

Recall Nissan plant in St. Petersburg is working since 2009. In December of 2014 it was opened the second stage, which has doubled the capacity of the plant to 100,000 vehicles a year. It employs 2.2 thousand employees, the plant is working in two shifts. The company produces currently four models - Nissan X-Trail, Teana, Murano and Pathfinder. Until the end of 2015 it is planned to start the production of the crossover Qashqai.

Meanwhile, the company Ford Sollers has confirmed the strike by workers at the plant in Vsevolozhsk, which began on the eve of the morning. According to the representative of the Ford Sollers, the strike includes at least 10% of the staff, there was no stopping production. To date, the Ford Sollers plant employs about 1.5 thousand people, says the agency "Prime". Among the demands of the strikers it is 18 payments of wages in case of dismissal from the company, disclosure of the salaries of all employees of the plant, outages payment in the amount of the average salary, rather than 2/3 of it, says the Ford Sollers. The average salary at the plant – is about 50 thousand rubles, knows the source in the enterprise. There are no separate negotiations with the administration of the union based on the demands of the strikers, said a company spokesman. On the last day it was pre-planned negotiations on a collective agreement, but their results have not been reported yet.
