OREANDA-NEWS. Transaero Airlines has unveiled its operational results for the first two months of 2015.

In January-February 2015 Transaero carried out 9,772 flights, an 8% decrease in comparison with the first two months of 2014. This came as a result of the airline's decision made in December 2014 to reduce flight frequency on a number of routes under the programme aimed at enhancing business efficiency and reducing costs as well as in response to an unfavorable market forecast.

Currently the airline is restoring the significant part of its previous schedule after the earlier cutback in line with the actual demand for the company's product.

In the first two months of 2015 Transaero carried 1,423,816 passengers, a 5% decrease over the same period for the previous year. This figure is less than the percentage of the light number reduction. It is worth to highlight that Transaero's passenger traffic on scheduled flights (which account for 93% of the overall traffic) only decreased by 2.9%.

The highest passenger traffic growth in the first two months of 2015 in comparison with the same period of 2014 was recorded on Transaero's routes to Europe, Middle East and CIS countries.

The decrease of the airline's passenger turnover in RPKs by 16.5% was due to the fact that customer demand has grown significantly for the medium-haul flights while it has fallen for long-haul flights.

The tourist market has started to recover. Transaero Airlines' traffic on the routes to Egypt has increased by 50%. There is en evidence for the overall increase in traffic volume on a number of routes to popular leisure destinations.

"Transaero has achieved a much better results for the first two months of 2015 than it was expected, - said Olga Pleshakova, CEO Transaero Airlines.- It is of top importance that the company's own sales continue to grow. This results in the airline's revenue growth. The booking pattern continues to improve. Now we are selling tickets for the summer months, considering group booking requests, particularly from the Far East of Russia to the south of Russia. All positive trends were taken into account when the airline has been preparing the flight schedule for the coming new season."
