Tata Steel Limited was conferred with the Prime Minister's Trophy today at Rourkela for being the 'Best Performing Integrated Steel Plant' in the country during the performance year 2010 - 2011. In recognition of the Company's outstanding performance, the Prime Minister's Trophy was presented by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, to Mr. T V Narendran, Managing Director, India & South East Asia, Tata Steel. The Company was adjudged as the best steel plant for the eighth time since this trophy was instituted in 1992-93.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Narendran, Managing Director, India & South East Asia, Tata Steel, said "It's an honour to receive this award from our Prime Minister, Hon'ble Shri Narendra Modi. It has always been our endeavor to set the benchmark of excellence in efficiency, quality and sustainability in all our operations. This award will greatly motivate us to create higher benchmarks in the steel industry, and to make a meaningful contribution to society and the nation. Our philosophy of working together at Tata Steel has been the framework of mutual understanding amongst all stakeholders, helping us take the company forward in all respects."

Congratulating the management and employees of Tata Steel for the excellent performance in both the years, the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, expressed confidence in the company and its management, considering them as partners in his 'Make in India' mission for the nation stating the company as being true nation builders.

The Company went through three rounds of rigorous assessment, adjudged by a panel of distinguished judges. The enthusiasm and involvement of its employees was highly appreciated by the panel of judges for the Prime Minister's Trophy, reaffirming the core strength of Tata Steel - its skilled and motivated workforce that has a will to excel.
