OREANDA-NEWS. The capital of Russia won the fourth place among the world's cities by the road congestion, according to international rating TomTom over the last year. Previously Moscow for several years occupied the first place and it was considered as the city with the most intense traffic, but for 2014 the situation has improved markedly in the city, and it moved to the ranking by three positions.

The first, second and third place, were distributed between Istanbul, Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro by the experts of TomTom, where the rate of road congestion is significantly higher than in the Russian capital, writes "Gazeta.Ru".

Independent rating of road congestion is annually formed by Dutch company TomTom, which produces devices for cars and personal GPS-navigation, it analyzes the performance of more than 200 cities and it is recognized as one of the most respected in the world. TomTom index is based on comparing of the average traffic in the city during in its free time and during the rush hour.
