NPO Saturn CEO Ilya Fedorov met with the leaders of the company’s trade union
OREANDA-NEWS. A meeting between Ilya Fedorov, NPO Saturn chief executive officer and the leaders of the NPO Saturn trade union took place today.
The CEO debriefed the attendees about NPO Saturn’s current operations, the prospects of the company’s development, the new projects of the design bureau as well as about the position of the company’s leadership on the social policy issues.
During the meeting, Ilya Fedorov underscored the following: “Talks about the crisis for the most part have nothing to do with NPO Saturn; the situation in the company is stable. As of today, NPO Saturn has secured the necessary orders and continues to play an important role in the implementation of the government tasks.”
In particular, NPO Saturn has been doing and continues to do all within its power for a successful implementation of the imported goods substitution program. Considering the role given to NPO Saturn as a comprehensive supplier of maritime gas turbine power units, at the moment almost the entire supply chain encompassing the design and production of marine gas turbine engines has been devised by the company.
Due to the fact that the industrial and marine engines have a lot of commonality in design, the continuation of research and development activities relevant to marine applications will facilitate further development of NPO Saturn’s industrial turbine business which is definitively considered one of the company’s most promising fields of tomorrow’s development.
Besides, NPO Saturn continues the implementation of a contract under which it is to deliver the D-30KP-2 engines to a foreign customer. The company is performing overhaul of the D-30-series engines for the needs of the Russian Federation in due time and in full scope. Saturn is also actively working on the implementation of the small-sized engine program. It continues to meet the needs of SCAC in serial SaM146 engines. It also strives to expand its scope of collaboration with Snecma through, among other initiatives, the initiation of new joint projects.
NPO Saturn still remains the only company in Russia specialized in the design and development of industrial gas turbine engines and combined-cycle power plants derived from them in the power range over 100 megawatts, whereas the GTE-110M is viewed as the bedrock of the country’s energetic security. What’s essential is that today all the stakeholders have come to a common understanding of the need to bring this engine to the required performance level. And once the engine will have completed its post-development taking into account the new technical and economic requirements, its upgraded GTE-110M turbine will power the objects of Inter RAO and other clients.
The company pays particular attention to the state of its research and technology backlog in order to be able to resort at any moment to the development of new competitive products which will come to replace NPO Saturn’s products nearing the end of their lifecycle.
NPO Saturn is actively developing its production infrastructure practically “building a new industrial company” having made approximately RUB 40 billion in investments over the past 5 years. It is working on developing its outsourcing and industrial cooperation links which will ultimately allow Saturn to outsource the non-value-added products and services while focusing on its core competences specific to the aircraft engine manufacturing business.
Gradually improving its financial and economic performance, NPO Saturn cares about the well-being of its employees through creating modern work stations, implementing social programs unrivaled in the Russian industry, and this work will continue.
Ilya Fedorov highlighted the important role played by the trade union in solving social issues of the company’s personnel. The leadership of NPO Saturn and of the NPO Saturn trade union have been able to build a productive and effective relationship.
It’s worth noting that the live dialog sessions between the company’s chief executive and the representatives of the company’s operating community have now become a good tradition. Earlier, in the first months of the running year, Mr. Fedorov has already met with the company’s young leaders and the representatives of the NPO Saturn technical direction.
