OREANDA-NEWS. Alitalia Airlines, the leading Italian carrier, has resumed flights from St. Petersburg to Rome. The flights from Pulkovo Airport to the Eternal City are to be carried out from March 29th until the end of summer season 2015.

Until early May, the airline will perform 5 flights a week: on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. From May 7th to September 24th, Thursday flights will be added. The flights will be performed by comfortable А319/А320/А321 aircraft with a capacity of 110-180 passengers.

„Rome is traditionally in the list of most popular destinations for the St. Petersburg airport. In 2014, the passenger traffic between the two cities amounted to 144,500 people. Alitalia is our long-time partner and one of the largest airlines performing international flights from Pulkovo. We are pleased with the airline’s decision to resume flights to the Italian capital. We hope that, load being sufficient, the carrier will make the decision to continue these flights in the coming winter season,” says Evgeniy Ilyin, Commercial Director of Northern Capital Gateway, Pulkovo Airport’s Managing Company.

In 2014, Alitalia Airlines performed flights from Pulkovo to Rome three times a week during the winter, and daily in the summer. In November 2014, flights were suspended for the winter.

The summer 2015 schedule also includes daily flights to Rome performed by Russia Airlines, main carrier of Pulkovo Airport.
