OREANDA-NEWS. Shvabe Holding scientists became the winners of the contest organized by the International scientific and technical organization "Laser association", the results of which were summed up at the 10th specialized exhibition "Photonics. World of lasers and optics - 2015".

The exhibition is rightly considered the main Russian event in the field of laser and optoelectronic equipment. In the current year it was listed among the major events held by UNESCO in the context of the International year of light and light technologies. The exhibition was spectacularly closed with the announcement of the results of the contest held by the Scientific and technical organization "Laser association" for the best domestic development in the field of photonics.

A diploma of the first degree in the category "Laser information systems" was awarded to a group of developers from Shvabe Holding enterprise M. F. Stelmakh Polus Research Institute OJSC for their development of the speed control sensor "Laser mobile LUCH-M".

The device is designed for speed monitoring and speed enforcement for the purpose of maintaining safety on the road. The distance from which the LUCH-М can determine the speed of a car, as well as read its registration number, is 50-300 meters. The Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate, the police, and city administration bodies are potential customers of the product.

"This development is the newest achievement of M. F. Stelmakh Polus Research Institute in the field of speed measurement. The advantage of laser measurement consists in the fact that it allows measurement errors related to the shift of the device to another vehicle to be avoided," explained Shvabe Deputy CEO of R&D and Innovative Development Nikolay Rakovich.

It is not the first time that the specialists of M. F. Stelmakh Polus Research Institute have been the laureates of this prestigious academic contest for the scientific community. In particular, the development of a new generation of unified modules for powerful semiconductor lasers (2008), the creation of the newest class of pulse epitaxial-integrated heteronanostructure laser emitters (2010), the invention of a unified kit of transmitting and receiving optical modules for fibre optic broadband information signal transmission systems and an eye-safe monopulse laser (2011), as well as the development of a fiber optic complex for transmitting information from the surface measurement system sensors of "Angara 1.2" class space missile launchers (2014) were recognized as the best scientific and technical solutions.

The activity of the LAS is aimed at every possible promotion of the creation and introduction of advanced laser technology in CIS countries and Baltic states. The objective of the annual contest held by this organization is to reveal and attract attention to the best domestic developments and works in the field of laser technology and optical electronics. Research and development centres of the optical-electronic industry from all regions of Russia take part in the event. The contest includes eight categories covering all fields of photonics.
