OREANDA-NEWS. Sales of passenger cars in Europe, including the EFTA countries, increased by 10.8% to 1, 650,730 vehicles in March, thus showing the growth for the 19th month in a row. According to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), the positive result was recorded in the most EU countries, including all major car markets of Europe - from 40.5% in Spain and 6% in the UK. For the first three months of 2015 car sales in Europe were 3, 637 635 units – it is more by 8.5% than a year before.

As it was noted in the review of the European car market in March, among automakers the highest number of cars in the European Union for the last month was sold by Volkswagen - 183,430 vehicles (+ 11.5%). The second place went to Ford with 136,109 sold cars (+ 8.9%). The third line is occupied by Opel / Vauxhall, which sold 118,747 cars – it is more by 4.3% than a year before. The "Top-five" of leaders is closed by the two French brands - Renault (107 407 units, + 11.6%) and Peugeot (95,877 units, + 10.4%).
