ExxonMobil reports Baytown unit trip

OREANDA-NEWS. ExxonMobil reported a compressor at its Baytown, Texas olefins plant tripped due to severe weather on Friday night, according to a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Following the upset, the company restarted the compressor and adjusted rates to stabilize the unit and minimize emissions. The event ended on Sunday morning. There was minimal impact to production, the filing stated. A series of heavy thunderstorms across the region Friday and Saturday dumped 3-4 inches of rainfall in some areas.

The ExxonMobil plant can produce up to 1.1mn t/yr of ethylene.
