OREANDA-NEWS. In January-March 2015 Siberian Coal Energy Company (SUEK) holdings produced 24,7 mln. tones of coal, which is 2% decrease compared to the same period last year.

Sales volumes in January-March 2015 increased by 12 % compared to the same period last year to 27,0 mln. tones of coal.

Domestic sales increased by 20 %. Russian consumers bought 15,9 mln. tones of coal, of which 12,7 mln. tones were supplied to electric power plants. Sales growth in the domestic market is driven by an increased demand for coal from the Russian power generating companies due to low water in rivers and decreased production of hydroelectricity.

International sales volumes grew by 3 % to 11,1 mln. tones of coal. Key international sales markets include China, Britain, South Korea, Japan, the Netherlands, Taiwan and Germany.
