OREANDA-NEWS. SSE has confirmed it will lower the unit rate element of its heat tariff by at least 4.6% for its domestic heat network customers.

The move, which will benefit 4,500 customers in Scotland and England, reflects a general downturn in domestic gas prices and will take effect from Friday May 1. It follows last year’s price freeze, which will remain in place until 2016.

Domestic heat network customers stay in homes which use heat created in a localised energy centre, transported to the homes through a network of highly insulated heating pipes. This removes the need for each home to have an individual boiler making it an affordable and energy-efficient way of heating homes and providing instantaneous hot water.

Jody Pittaway, SSE’s Heat Networks Manager, said: “Delivering affordable energy prices for our customers is central to everything we do. This price reduction will reassure our domestic heat network customers that we are committed to providing their heat supply at a competitive rate as well as award-winning customer service.”

If you have any questions in relation to this price freeze, please call our dedicated heat network customer service team on 0800 980 3291 and one of our staff will be more than happy to assist.

SSE’s domestic heat network customers are located across eight sites in the UK.

Royal Arsenal Riverside (Woolwich), Wandsworth Riverside Quarter (Wandsworth), Orchard Village (Dagenham), Haggerston and Kingsland (Hackney), Merchant Square (Paddington), Greenwich Square (Greenwich) Riverlight (London) and Wyndford (Glasgow).
