OREANDA-NEWS.IDGC of Centre contributes to the preparation for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. On the eve of anniversary power engineers provided in the regions of their service area electricity supply to under construction and reconstruction for the holiday memorials and monuments. In places where there was fighting, specialists of the company’s branches are engaged in landscaping and putting in order graves of soldiers of the Red Army.

In the Belgorod region specialists of Valuisky Distribution Zone of Belgorodenergo in preparation for the 9th of May upgraded outdoor lighting in Victory Park in the settlement of Rovenki, where there is the mass grave and Alley of Heroes of the Soviet Union and the Holders of the Order of Glory - natives of Valuisky district. The power engineers completely replaced outdoor lighting networks, re-installed overhead and cable lines, installed energy-saving lighting fixtures with an automatic control system. And employees of Shebekinsky Distribution Zone of Belgorodenergo held voluntary Saturday work, during which restored the lighting at the memorial to the soldiers-tankers of the 27th Guards Tank Brigade in the village of Voznesenovka. "Our employees enthusiastically responded to the call to take part in the clean-up," says Chief of Shebekinsky Distribution Zone Andrey Abrosimov. "Each of us understands that this is the least we can do in memory of the defenders of the Fatherland."

The branch "Kurskenergo" provided grid connection of the construction site of the monument "Teplovsky heights" in Ponyrovsky district of the Kursk region, which will be open to the Victory Day. The monument under construction is dedicated to the feat of heroes -gunners, who stopped the enemy tanks during the Battle of Kursk. In the same district, at the entrance to the settlement of Ponyri, employees of the branch performed work on the lighting of the monument to the heroes-paratroopers, who stood there to death in July 1943, and the "Alley of Power Engineers", where 120 birch trees and weeping willows were planted. In Medvensky district employees of Kurskenergo cleaned the monument to the legendary pilot, three times Hero of the Soviet Union Ivan Kozhedub, and in Solntsevsky district they tidied up the monument "Unknown Hero".

Specialists of the Voronezh branch of the company connected to the grid a commemorative stele in the village of Upper Mamon in the Voronezh region, established in honour of assignment of the title of the "Settlement of Military Valour" to the village. Opening of the monument is scheduled for the 6th of May. And their Orel colleagues paid tribute to the heroism of war heroes. On the eve of the holiday staff of Orlovsky Distribution Zone completed in the village of Stanovoye a set of measures to improve the safety of power supply of the monument to Soviet soldiers, who died for the liberation of the Orel land in the summer of 1943. And power engineers of Znamensky Distribution Zone of Orelenergo performed restoration work on the territory of the monument to the fallen Red Army soldiers in the settlement of Butyrki, and restored with their own forces a memorial sign in the village of Shkala, where during the war hospital number 2313 was located, which, according to local residents, treated female pilots of the famous squadron "Night Witches".

Employees of Bryanskenergo since 2012 have been patronizing military graves in the village of Golubeya. In celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Victory employees of Dubrovsky Distribution Zone of the branch will do voluntary Saturday work at the memorial, planting trees. In Klintsovsky Distribution Zone of the Bryansk region for many years power engineers have cleaned up the obelisk erected in memory of the families of the guerrillas shot by fascists May 30, 1942. At present, employees of Klintsovsky Distribution Zone here are performing reconstruction work to tidy up and repair the monument.

In the Tambov region employees of the local branch of IDGC of Centre patronize a memorial to soldiers, who died during the war, in the village of Kovylka. Here busts of soldiers were installed - natives of these places: the only among residents of Kovylka Full Cavalier of the Order of Glory Mikhail Abramov and Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Surov. The monument was built on the charitable funds, with the active participation of employees of Kirsanovsky Distribution Zone of Tambovenergo. On the eve of the 70th anniversary of the Victory the power engineers tidied up adjacent to the memorial area, planted spruce and apple trees, as well as renewed the paint coating on the busts of the heroes.

 "IDGC of Centre operates in regions where largely the outcome of the Great Patriotic War was decided. These are the Kursk, Orel and Belgorod regions, which on their territory had one of its key battles - the Battle of Kursk. The Smolensk and Bryansk regions are known for exploits of heroes-guerrillas, and many others. For each of our employees the memory of the war is sacred. Caring for memorials is only a small part of what we do and are willing to do to pay tribute to the heroes - the living and the fallen, and to preserve the memory of their unprecedented feat," stresses Chairman of the primary trade union organization of IDGC of Centre Victor Ablezgov.
