OREANDA-NEWS. Alstom opens a new logistics centre for the storage and management of components of rail vehicles in its Salzgitter site. This centre ensures optimum supply of the production areas within the factory.

The new building has a modern and multifunctional design and features a centrally located crane system for handling heavy rail vehicle components. It also offers spaces for over 10.000 shelving. All these facilities optimise logistics processes and increase the cost effectiveness of the production supply process. The logistics centre is built on a plot covering 62,000 square metres and features 30,500 square metres of hall space.

“With this new logistics centre, Alstom is taking a decisive step in Germany by centralising its logistics activities in Salzgitter. It replaces the external warehouses used previously, thereby significantly optimising the material flows and transport routes and increase competitiveness”, says Didier Pfleger, Vice President of Alstom Transport for Germany and Austria.
