OREANDA-NEWS. Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici met British Ambassador to Moldova Philip Batson today. The officials tackled the deepening of reforms, enhancing bilateral cooperation and launch of new projects in different areas, such as justice reform, fight against corruption, economic growth, and stability of financial and banking sector.

Chiril Gaburici thanked Philip Batson for supporting and encouraging Moldova to continue democratic, economic and social transformations, and inclusively to advance on the European integration path. „The government is firm to continue Moldova’s European path. We assumed the commitment to speed up reforms to modernise Moldova and to offer a decent living to citizens,” Gaburici said.

For his part, Philip Batson said that Great Britain would back Moldova in reforms initiated. „We encourage you to continue reforms, as results are visible. During the Riga Summit, we will reconfirm EU engagement to support Moldova to implement the European Union-Moldova Association Agreement. Great Britain may provide the necessary expertise in the financial and banking system and justice – a sector that enjoys the respect of British citizens,” Batson said.

Gaburici highlighted that „the projects, which the British government is to launch in Moldova, comply with the priorities of the Moldovan government: national unity, supremacy of law and sustainable economy”.

The sides agreed to maintain a continuous dialogue in order to develop the bilateral ties between the two states at all cooperation levels.

Philip Batson invited Gaburici to hold a bilateral meeting with British premier, who is to be elected today, during the Riga Summit.
