OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has signed an agreement with the Saratov Region government on social and economic cooperation. An estimated volume of investment into development of mobile communications will total RUB2.5 bn between 2015 and 2018.

The agreement is seeking to lay foundation for cooperation between Tele2 and the Saratov Region government in telecommunications infrastructure development, boost investment flow into the region’s economy and joint social and economic projects. In particular, Tele2 is planning to allocate around RUB550 thou to children’s institutions of Pugachev municipal district in Saratov Region.

On May 15, the operator will start providing mobile services in Saratov Region under the Tele2 brand. In all penetrated region the company is solving an important social task – to provide high-quality and affordable mobile services to as many residents as possible. Tele2’s emergence on a regional telecommunications market inevitably entails a drop in tariffs.

Over several years Tele2 has been a leader in terms of APPM (Average Price per Minute) indicator. As of the end of 2014, the company once again turned out to be a mobile operator with the most profitable tariffs and the lowest average price per minute – RUB0.9. Tele2 is planning to pursue the discounter policy in 2015 by maintaining leadership in terms of this indicator.

The agreement with the Saratov Region government implies the development and expansion of the Tele2 network coverage, a launch of high-speed mobile Internet. This project implies both large-scale rollouts and upgrading of the current mobile infrastructure facilities.

On 6 August 2014 the company closed the deal on setting up a new federal operator based on Tele2 and Rostelecom mobile assets. Seven subsidiaries of Rostelecom entered Tele2 as part of the deal: Sky Link, NSS, Baykalvestkom, BIT, Volgograd GSM, Eniseytelecom, AKOS as well as RT Mobile.

New federal operator Tele2 holds a wide range of 2G/3G license and a federal 4G license, has operations in over 60 regions and provides services to more than 35 mn subscribers.
