OREANDA-NEWS. Charlotte Douglas International Airport is expecting large crowds this Memorial Day weekend as the summer travel season kicks off. The opening of the new Hourly Deck in November has provided 4,000 additional parking spaces. Economy parking, however, will remain in high demand. Drivers who are picking up and dropping off passengers are encouraged to use the new deck to ease congestion on the curbside. The first hour is free.

Travelers visiting the Airport for the first time this year should pay close attention to CLT's new entrance and exit roadways. Approaching Charlotte Douglas, there's now direct access to the terminal, Airport parking lots and decks from Interstate 85 and Wilkinson Boulevard. When leaving the terminal, CLT's new exit lanes allow drivers more options to connect to major thoroughfares. Motorists are encouraged to follow overhead signage as they become familiar with the new routes.

Airlines are predicting high passenger loads. Fliers are encouraged to arrive early. Peak travel days at the Airport are traditionally Monday mornings, all day Thursday and Sunday evenings.

CLT will have additional staff assisting travelers on the curbside and in the Arrivals and Departures area.
