OREANDA-NEWS. May 21st was the final day of the XI international exhibition of measuring tools, test equipment and metrology "MetrolExpo-2015".

Among the variety of downhole tools to measure physical and chemical properties of geological environment, for the first time a tool for direct determination of uranium, AMK KND-M-48 was presented at the exhibition. The innovative device has been developed according to specifications of JSC RUSBURMASH, with involvement of FGUP N.L. Dukhov VNIIA, FGU NPP Geologorazvedka and FGU GMC RF VNIIgeosystem.

AMK KND -M-48 is intended for direct determination of uranium content in wells on radioactive ore deposits. The method is based on excitation of atomic nuclei of uranium-235 isotope contained in natural uranium using a pulsed neutron generator, and recording the flow of neutrons formed during decay of nuclei of this isotope, whose content in uranium ores closely correlate with the natural uranium content.

In 2014, the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology approved AMK KND-M as a measurement tools type (Certificate RU.C.38.001.A №53794).

In May 2015, following the results of the field trial tests, AMK KND-M measurement technique was certified in the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "D.I. Mendeleev Research Institute" (Certificate No. 634 / 210- (01.00250) -2015).

Interest in the unique equipment has been already shown by Uranium-1 (Russia), Navoisky MMC (Uzbekistan), AREVA Mines LLC (Mongolia), KATKO (Kazakhstan), Mantra Resources Pty Limited (Tanzania). The interest is due to the fact that AMK KND-M-48 has significantly superior performance compared to the existing Russian and foreign counterparts. For example, thanks to small diameter of the device, it can be sunk to wells with a diameter from 60 mm, which significantly expands the scope of the method, while long service life of the neutron generator reduces operating costs.

At MetrolExpo-2015, JSC RUSBURMASH’s experts held a presentation of prompt fission neutron logging system on the booth of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation. Importantly, the development and introduction of KND-M-48 had been previously included in the Innovative Development Program of the Corporation.

Following the results of the Moscow International Innovation Forum "Precise measurements as the basis of quality and safety", JSC RUSBURMASH was awarded with exhibitor diploma by the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology ROSSTANDART.
