OREANDA-NEWS. Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to bring together business leaders, financial institutions, investors and government officials during the BASE III International Forum from June 29 to July 1 in the Centro Banamex in Mexico City

The BASE III International Forum, a biannual meeting organized by the IDB, will promote discussion on the market and development potential of the population known as the base of the pyramid (BOP) in Latin America and the Caribbean. The BOP is made up of an estimated 406 million people in the region, amounting to an annual market of more than \\$750 billion. In Mexico alone, the base of the pyramid market represents as much as \\$170 billion annually.

As part of the Forum, companies, financial institutions, impact investors, opinion leaders, media outlets, social entrepreneurs and others will share challenges and lessons learned in working in the BOP market. The meeting will provide a one-of-a-kind opportunity for strengthening networks of contacts of those who have established commercially viable businesses that supply quality goods and services to low-income consumers.

During the 2103 edition in Medell?n, Colombia, the Forum attracted more than 1,500 participants, including 95 international panelists.

This year’s attendees will have the opportunity to listen in person to senior executives from local and international companies regarding the incorporation of the BOP market as part of their firms’ innovation and growth strategies. The forum will also examine in depth specific sectors such as housing, education, health, energy and telecommunications.

In an effort to obtain a rounded perspective, panels will include government officials, regulators, imapct investors and business accelerators who together make up the BOP business ecosystem in Mexico and throughout the region.

Among the confirmed panelists are more than 15 company presidents and CEOs, including Pedro Padierna, President of PepsiCo Alimentos M?xico; Fausto Costa, President of Nestl? Venezuela; Juan Carlos Domenzain, Co-Founder and Director General of Promotora Social M?xico; Daniel Servitje, Director General of BIMBO; Vineet Rai, Co-Founder and President of Intellecap, and ?lvaro Rodr?guez, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Ignia.
