OREANDA-NEWS. June 09, 2015. Statistical data on the evolution of fixed line services in the first qtr. of 2015, published by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), show that in the first three months of the year the total sales revenues on this market increased 4,5% over the same period of 2014 and exceeded 264 million lei.

According to the statistical data reported to ANRCETI by fixed line service providers, the revenues collected by Moldtelecom from fixed line service provision increased 4,4% over the same timeframe of last year and made up 250,1 mln. lei, while alternative providers increased their revenues 6,4%, up to a total of 14,7 mln. lei. As a result, the average revenue per user (ARPU) increased 5,1% over the first qtr of 2014 to a total of 72,7 lei. The increase was driven mainly by the growing average monthly revenue per user (ARPU) of Moldotelecom, which was 76 lei (up 6,1%). The ARPU of alternative providers dropped 3,2% and was 41 lei.

Following global and regional trends, the number of fixed line subscribers continued to decrease. In comparison with the last quarter of 2014, the number of subscribers decreased by 7,400 and totaled 1.2 mln. The subscriber base of Moldtelecom decreased 6,2 thousand and totaled 1,092 mln subscribers, while the one of alternative providers decreased 1,1 thousand and totaled 118,7 thousand. Therefore, the fixed line service penetration rate per 100 inhabitants, decreased compared to end of 2014 0,2% and amounted to 34%.

Over the same period, the total voice traffic in fixed line networks decreased compared to the first quarter of 2014 by 16,7% and totaled about 587 million minutes, whereas the average monthly traffic
per user (MoU) decreased 10% and constituted 254 minutes (4 hours and 14 minutes).

The market share of Moldtelecom by turnover decreased 0,1% and showed 94,5%, while the joint share of alternative providers increased in the same proportion and totaled 5,5%.
