OREANDA-NEWS. Shvabe Holding won a government tender to supply advanced LED spotlights to a quarry of Kaliningrad Amber Combine.

Urals Optical & Mechanical Plant OJSC (UOMZ OJSC), a Shvabe Holding enterprise, made a contract with Kaliningrad Amber Combine to supply 27 LED spotlights to illuminate the area of the only-in-the-world quarry where amber is produced and processed.

These light fixtures ensure uninterrupted operation when used both in general lighting systems and in hard-to-reach areas and premises with special conditions, such as high humidity, smoke or dust.

"DSU-100 LED spotlights will replace obsolete lamp spotlights, which will reduce energy costs in 3-4 times. Comparing to traditional light fixtures, our products have better specifications in terms of luminous efficiency and luminous flux directivity and require no maintenance during their service life," said Evgeny Plekhov, Director of Shvabe - Kaliningrad LLC.

Commercial production of amber takes place on the shore of the Baltic Sea, near the village of Yantarny, where approximately 90% of world deposits of amber succinite are concentrated; its age is about 50 million years.
