OREANDA-NEWS. German automotive concern Mercedes-Benz froze construction of passenger car assembly plant in Russia sine die due to sanctions, director of the corporation of Vladimir region development Sergey Borodin told to TASS agency.

"As we know Germany announced construction of Mercedes plant in Russia. They were considering different areas. We suggested two sites in Vladimir region. However, at the moment, this project is postponed due to sanctions,"- the interlocutor of the agency said. .

In January 2015, Vice-Governor of Vladimir region Aleksey Marchenko told TASS about possible construction of Mercedes-Benz enterprise in the region. Other regions of Central Federal District were also negotiating with the German automaker. A decision was expected at the end of the first half of the year.
