OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has commercially launched the 4G network. This the second LTE network the operator has launched based at the 1800 MHz frequencies. Thereby the company has implemented a technology neutrality principle.

Starting from 16 June Tele2 subscribers in St. Petersburg may use high-speed wireless Internet in 4G standard.

Tele2 now provides a stable coverage of the 4G network in the centre of the city including Centralnyy, Petrogradskiy, Vasileostrovskiy districts, along Moskovskiy prospect , in Pulkovo airport and at all St. Petersburg railway stations.

High-speed wireless Internet is available at 21 underground stations. LTE network is also operating in Krasnogvardeyskiy, Kirovskiy, Primorskiy, Moskovskiy, Nevskiy districts of the city. By the end of 2015 Tele2 is planning to increase the number of 4G base stations three-fold.

Tele2 is offering three new package tariffs to users of high-speed wireless Internet – “Black”, “Dark Black”, “The Blackest”. Tariffs differ in volume of included Internet traffic, a number of minutes and SMS.

Prior to the 4G launch Tele2 cut a subscriber fee for the “Black” tariff by 40% and provided additional traffic. Now its users get 1.5 GB and free-toll calls to Tele2 numbers within the home region for only 90 rubles.

“The Blackest” tariff includes 4 GB, 400 minutes of calls to the numbers of other operators and on the Tele2 network in Russia, 100 minutes of international calls and 1000 SMS inside the region. The subscriber fee totals only 290 rubles per month.

Apart from profitable tariffs, the operator has envisaged different tariff options: “Internet onto pad”, “Internet bag”, “Internet briefcase”, “Internet suitcase”, “Day on the network”. These options are created for subscribers who want to use high-speed wireless Internet but prefer their current tariff.

Mikhail Noskov, CEO at Tele2:

“Tele2 has advocated introduction of the technology neutrality principle over a long time so that operators could use GSM frequencies for the LTE construction. We are quite confident this is one of the most economically expedient ways to roll out 4G networks. Thanks to introduction of a new standard, Tele2 subscribers in St. Petersburg got access to higher speeds at affordable prices. In 2015 high-speed Internet under the Tele2 brand will be available to the majority of our subscribers.”
