OREANDA-NEWS. In May, global automotive market decreased by 1.4% to 7,290,000 passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. The annual sales, calculated from the results of last month amounted to 87 million vehicles, which was the lowest result since the beginning of the year. So, the growth in demand in the largest markets such as China, USA and Western Europe, cannot fully compensate the decline in sales in the problem markets such as Brazil and Russia. According to LMC Automotive consulting company, during the first five months of 2015 automotive sales in the world increased by 1.1% to 36,786,000 vehicles.

China, where 1,928,000 vehicles were sold in May (+0.4%), remains the global leader in vehicle sales.   The second largest automotive market in the world is America with 1,632,000 vehicles sold, which is 1.7% more than a year ago. Automotive sales in Western Europe reduce the growth rates - last month the market there increased by 1% up to 1,193,000 vehicles.  At the same time, the worst dynamics was registered by Germany (- 6.7%). Automobile markets of Eastern Europe continue to decrease – by 13.6% to 314,000 vehicles in May.  We should mention that the Russian market, which declined by more than a third, started to stabilize against the decrease in the previous months.
