OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has pointed out higher demand on data services. Skyrocketing increase in traffic consumption is observed in the regions where 3G and 4G networks are launched.

A launch of high-speed wireless Internet has positively influenced data use by the operator’s subscribers all over Russia. From December 2014 to May 2015 daily traffic on the Tele2 network grew by 10%. Over 30% of all Tele2 subscribers use data services.

Among the regions with recently launched mobile networks, a massive surge in traffic consumption has been recorded in Tula: since the beginning of 2015 it increased 4-fold. This indicator increased 60% in Novosibirsk where the 3G network had operated since November 2014.

Chelyabinsk showed a most noticeable increase in daily traffic on the Tele2 network – by 182%. It was followed by St. Petersburg (+134%), Tambov (+126%) and Novosibirsk (+100%).

New subscribers most often choose the “Black” tariff of all package tariffs for high-speed wireless Internet (“Black”, “Dark Black”, “The Blackest”).

Value-added services are also popular on the Tele2 network: thanks to them the operator’s subscribers may use all opportunities of high-speed wireless Internet and keep their current tariff. Thus, the number of those who activated “Internet bag” increased 8-fold since January 2015 whereas the number of “Internet suitcase” users grew 6-fold.

“We continue implementing a large-scale project on the network construction. It took Tele2 slightly more than six months to have launched a high-speed wireless Internet in 26 regions of Russia. In these areas of the country we observe a considerable increase in revenues growth and higher traffic consumption, the number of new additions increased 8-10% on average and churn dropped 7%.”

The 3G network is available to the operator’s subscribers in Belgorod, Volgograd, Vologda, Voronezh, Vladimir, Izhevsk, Irkutsk, Kaliningrad, Kemerovo, Kirov, Lipetsk, Murmansk, Nizhniy Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Republic of Komi, Rostov-on-Don, Ryazan, St. Petersburg, Saratov, Smolensk, Tambov, Tver, Tomsk and Chelyabinsk. The 4G networks are currently operating in Tula and St. Petersburg.
