OREANDA-NEWS. Chinese automaker Lifan will start construction of a plant in Lipetsk special economic zone on 16 July, CEO of special economic zone Ivan Koshelev informed. According to him, presentation of the project and demonstration of new Lifan vehicles will also take place on this date. As previously reported, the launch of production is scheduled for summer 2017, Vedomosti  newspaper reports.

We should remind that Lifan company and government of Lipetsk region signed the corresponding agreement last year in October. The total investment will be about $300 million. The company plans to produce the entire model lineup of Chinese brand – the 650, the 730, the 820 sedans and the X40, the X50, the X55, the X60 (second generation),  the X70, the X80 SUVs. The initial production capacity of the plant is 60,000 vehicles per year. The current Lifan lineup in Russia includes the X50 and the X60 crossovers, the Cebrium, the Solano, the Celliya sedans and the Smily compact city hatchback.
