OREANDA-NEWS. Vehicles of Chinese brands do not enjoy stable sales in the Russian market. During the crisis the decrease in the demand for Chinese vehicles is much higher (-64%) than the general market decline (-38%), AUTOSTAT analysts report. The similar situation was registered during the crisis of 2008-2009, when sales of Chinese vehicles reduced twice more than the market and many of them even stopped sales in Russia.

There are four best-known and successful Chinese brands in the Russian market - Lifan, Geely, Chery and GreatWall. However, they are sold much worse than last year.  Chery, which sold 2,043 vehicles during 5 months of 2015, decreased its sales by 74%. The demand for GreatWall (2,036 vehicles) reduced by 70%. Geely registered 61% decline in sales to 3,119 vehicles, and Lifan lost  55% of its market (3,796 vehicles).

According to the director of AUTOSTAT agency Sergey Tselikov, it will be quite difficult for Chinese brands to retain their market position. Budget segment is affected by the crisis most of all. At the same time, in the low price segment, consumers switched to domestic brands (LADA, UAZ), which is quite logical, because the cost of ownership of Russian vehicles is lower than that of Chinese brands. And the prices for domestic vehicles increased less than for Chinese ones.
