OREANDA-NEWS. The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd. (BTMU) has recently received preliminary approval to open a sub-branch of the Taipei Branch (Kaohsiung Sub-Branch) in the city of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, from the Financial Supervisory Commission.

BTMU will proceed with the preparations with the aim to start operation of the Kaohsiung Sub-Branch during fiscal year 2015 through various procedures required by the local authorities. Kaohsiung is Taiwan's second largest city after Taipei with a population of approximately 2.78 million. It has an export processing zone as well as the largest commercial port in Taiwan, and is developing as a center of the liquid-crystal and semiconductor businesses, the key industries of Taiwan, along with the Tainan Science Park nearby.

The industries have high competitive strengths in the world and are driving strong appetites for investments from abroad. Investments and steady growth are expected to continue with the expansion of supply chains and growing industries.

Since the opening of Taipei Branch in March 1993, BTMU have steadily worked on improving our services to our customers in Taiwan. By opening the Kaohsiung Sub-Branch, for which we received preliminary approval, we will have two locations in Taiwan. With this addition, we will strive to meet the needs of our customers in Taiwan more than ever.
