OREANDA-NEWS. Power management company Eaton today announced a game-changing fused disconnect switch designed to help data centers achieve critical reliability and support advanced power distribution architecture. The new Bussmann® series Low Profile Compact Circuit Protector (CCPLP) is the industry’s most compact Underwriters Laboratories (UL®) 98 Listed fused disconnect switch.

“Eaton’s fusible circuit protection solutions are engineered to support higher energy efficiency and greater power density data center designs, while helping meet code compliance with respect to interrupting rating and safe work practices,” said Nick Stone, Eaton’s Bussmann Division. “The new CCPLP provides expansive features in the industry’s smallest fusible switch footprint to benefit designers, maintainers and owners of modern mission-critical environments by enhancing efficiency, reliability and safety.”

Designed to streamline panel installation and simplify selective coordination requirements in mission-critical environments, the new Bussmann series CCPLP accepts branch circuit rated fuses that are current limiting and up to a 200 kiloampere (kA) interrupting rating. All configurations are designed for use in global applications and offer alternating current voltage ratings up to 600 volts.

To support application flexibility, mounting and panel layout dimensions match common low-profile circuit breakers, providing an easy, alternative fused circuit protection solution. Additionally, all versions are disconnect rated to provide means for load isolation while Class CC, 20 ampere (A) Class G, and IEC 10x38 versions are suitable for both branch circuit disconnect and branch circuit protection.

To enhance safety, the fused disconnect switches are IP20 rated and meet International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) finger-safe requirements for panel mount installations. Further, a built-in switch handle interlocks the fuse access to help prevent removing the fuse under load, and the use of a pin-out device provides a lockout/tagout means for enhanced safety.

The CCPLP fused disconnect switch is available in one-, two- and three-pole configurations for Class CC, 20A Class G, midget and IEC 10x38 fuses.
