OREANDA-NEWS. BNY Mellon has recently signed an open letter joining other Australian business leaders in expressing support for marriage equality. Globally, 19 countries have passed laws allowing same sex-marriage and, by lending its support to this submission, BNY Mellon is reaffirming its commitment to equality.

“Our people are BNY Mellon’s greatest asset and include some of the sharpest minds and most innovative individuals in the financial services industry. As an employer and a champion of diversity and inclusion, we are gratified by the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to recognize the constitutional right of same-sex marriage,” said Jyoti Chopra, global head of Diversity and Inclusion. “We believe that there is a compelling business case for diversity and that our LGBT employees should have the same rights and opportunities as others. Our company is proud to support marriage equality along with other leading businesses in Australia.”
