OREANDA-NEWS. By increasing the localization of production, Ford Sollers starts to set the details of the local plastics for produced cars in Russia. The first Focus and Fiesta were assembled with the usage of domestic plastic parts.

As "Za rulem.RF" writes, Ford cars, which are produced at plants Ford Sollers, have 86 parts from Russian plastic, and by the end of 2015 their number will grow to 150. The Russian plastics will be used in interior and exterior elements, such as bumper, dashboard, air vents, frame elements, air heating and ventilation systems, external vents, etc.

The usage of local materials will help to reduce the production costs and it will allow the more flexible planning to produce cars. Raw materials for plastic are supplied by the company "Tathimplast" from Kazan, and parts are produced by the company "Magna Automotive Rus" from Nizhny Novgorod and Faurecia Interior systems from Luga.

Before the installation of plastic parts, the company conducted laboratory research and testing of new products to determine whether they meet characteristics that are necessary for Russia, such as stability during rapid temperature changes, reliability and safety. So, during the test of bumpers, the cars with tested parts were placed in chambers with a temperature from + 500C to - 400C and humidity of 96%. Experimental lots were also tested in laboratories abroad and they have been approved by Ford.

The Company confirms that before the end of 2016 it will be switched completely to the Russian steel in the production of components. To date, 75% of steel is purchased from MMK and "Severstal".

In addition, Ford Sollers will start the engine plant in Yelabuga before the year-end, where it will be produced engines of 1.6 liters, with a capacity of 85, 105 and 120 HP for models Fiesta, EcoSport and Focus.
