OREANDA-NEWS. SAS is opening three new routes to USA in 2016. The new routes being launched are Los Angeles from Stockholm, Miami from Oslo and Miami from Copenhagen. SAS is also increasing the number of departures from Stockholm to New York and Chicago and between Copenhagen and Shanghai. That means that SAS will now offer over 330,000 additional seats on its intercontinental routes in 2016.

“Already now SAS routes to the USA, namely to New York, Chicago and San Francisco, are extremely popular among travellers from Lithuania. Therefore, we expect the new routs to also receive positive reaction from our customers. Today SAS offers very good connections from Lithuania to Stockholm and Copenhagen, and from late October this year we will also offer direct flights from Vilnius to Oslo. As a result, we’ll surely be able to offer good connections to both Miami and Los Angeles via three main SAS hubs in Scandinavia”, pointed out R?ta Jucien?, SAS General Manager Baltic States and Russia.

Los Angeles will be a popular destination for travellers wishing to visit Southern California or onwards to destinations such as Hawaii. The first flight to Los Angeles will leave on 14 March and SAS will have daily departures from Stockholm to Los Angeles throughout the summer season.

Miami will be an attractive destination for travellers especially in the winter months. Miami is also a large hub for traffic to Caribbean and Latin America. Furthermore, Miami is also the number one cruise liner port in the world and an important trade centre. The first flights to Miami are expected to lift off in fall 2016 and the Miami route will have a daily departure from Scandinavia.

SAS currently offers long haul flights from Scandinavia to New York, Washington DC, Chicago, San Francisco, Beijing, Shanghai, Honk Kong and Tokyo.

Scandinavian Airlines SAS currently operates 19 weekly flights between Vilnius and Copenhagen and 14 weekly flights between Vilnius and Stockholm. Starting October 12 SAS will operate 18 weekly flights between Palanga and Copenhagen (now there are 13 weekly flights between Palanga and Copenhagen), and on October 29 SAS will launch a new Vilnius – Oslo route with four weekly flights.
