OREANDA-NEWS. August 24, 2015. Ukraine shouldn’t only focus on raw material component in the agricultural sector, instead, it should in collaboration with domestic and foreign investors launch processing, create new jobs and enter the markets not only through grain export, but enter the markets with finished products labeled “High quality product of Ukraine”. Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk declared at a meeting with leading grain traders in Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky.

The Prime Minister stressed a lot had been achieved in deregulation, simplification of procedures and curbing corruption and bribery in the agrarian sector: "We have reduced a number of certificates, reduced certain procedures. We have also eliminated a number of inspections, such as, for example, an agricultural inspection, which were yet another burden for the Ukrainian agrarian sector. And now we should move on to enhance harvest volumes and, notably, the volumes of processed agricultural products".

He noted that the Ukrainian-American business forum had resulted into concluding contracts for projects, which are worth several hundred million dollars and being implemented in the agricultural sector.

The Prime Minister also informed in October is due a visit of U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker to Ukraine, and it is investment in Ukrainian food production which will be the subject of conversation with her.

"We need a processing component in the agricultural sector. To enter foreign markets not only with grain, but with the finished product, which has an added value, a competitive product. And it indeed can compete with any other foreign products," he said.

"The agricultural sector has always been, still remains and will be a key sector in the future," stressed the Head of Government.

The Government pursues a policy of modernization of this sector: "Upgrading, entering new markets and transition from grain export to the export of finished products".
