OREANDA-NEWS. RUE Beltelecom takes part in the program of expanded informatization of schools in the Republic of Belarus “Approbation of the program of managed development of educational services for formation and stimulation of self-education activities of students with the help of information and communication technologies (e-school).” Under the pilot project four secondary schools in Minsk and Soligorsk were defined. Currently RUE Beltelecom has already carried out the binding of the abovementioned schools via fiber-optic cable for communication services provision.

Successful implementation of the project will give the opportunity to increase Internet access capacity in schools, to create a platform for introduction of electronic documents workflow, electronic textbooks, video control system, digital entry badge system, for provision of the service “Electronic class register – grade book”, as well as to organize distance learning for pupils and distant qualification upgrading courses for a teaching staff.

The project aimed at increasing the availability of “Internet in school” is implemented on a phased basis, the work was carried out at the expense of Beltelecom. In 2014 100% of Belarusian schools had technical capability to connect to the Internet. One of the most important aspects of work is to provide village schools with Internet access, allowing to take advantage of additional opportunities not only in city schools, but also in village schools. In order to provide technical connectivity to the Internet of all Belarusian schools, Beltelecom laid more than 700 km of additional fiber-optic communication lines to remote rural settlements where there are schools.
