OREANDA-NEWS. The Meyer Burger Group and CSEM, with support from the Federal Office of Energy and the Canton of Neuch?tel, have extended and consolidated their leading position in Switzerland with technological innovations in the photovoltaic area. The solar facade with cutting-edge photovoltaic technology is the outcome of a partnership forged over many years between the research institutes and the technology company.

The solar facade at Rue Maladiere 33 in Neuch?tel, realized on the south wall of the CSEM building in an 18-month-long project, was put into operation jointly by the City of Neuchutel, the energy supply company Viteos and CSEM. The facade was financed by Viteos and the City of Neuchutel. The installation stands out for its architectural appearance and elegant module design. This latest generation of solar modules produces electricity both on the front and on the back of the modules from direct and indirect (reflection) solar radiation. The optimum combination of HJT solar cells and SWCT solar cell connection technology enables an industry-leading module efficiency and guarantees maximum energy yields even at very high ambient temperatures. The current connectors between the cells are invisible, resulting in an extremely homogenous appearance on the total surface area of 633 m2.

The new solar technology lends itself well to use in a wide variety of applications, both with regard to increasing energy yields in very different climatic zones, and in terms of integration into and on buildings. As a building material, these solar systems fit in perfectly with the stylistic elements of buildings.

Meyer Burger successfully supplies the Swiss market with cost-effective solar systems for building integration as well as with innovative hybrid solutions for building services engineering. Its advanced and highly efficient technologies, such as Heterojunction and SmartWire, are being incorporated in its tried and tested product range and will be available for Swiss customers by mid-2016.
