Nippon Shokubai to shut Indonesian AA unit

OREANDA-NEWS. Japanese firm Nippon Shokubai Indonesia is planning a maintenance shutdown at one of its acrylic acid (AA) plants in Cilegon, west Java, starting in late October.

The No.2 AA unit with production capacity of 80,000 t/yr is expected to be shut from 21 October to 10 November. The unit is currently running at 100pc.

The firm's 60,000 t/yr No. 1 unit is also running at 100pc of capacity. The unit completed 45 days of maintenance at the end of June.

Nippon Shokubai is one of three spot propylene buyers in Indonesia. The other two are oxo-alcohol producer Petro OXO Nusantara and polypropylene producer Chandra Asri.
