OREANDA-NEWS.  As of October 25, 2015, UTair new rules for baggage and carry-on will enter into effect on all its scheduled flights.

In compliance with recommendations issued by IATA and following multiple requests from passengers, UTair will introduce new baggage allowance regulations, formally known as the Piece Concept, already successfully implemented by most IATA members. The Piece Concept simplifies and standardizes the baggage check-in procedure for passengers travelling with a connecting flight. The introduced changes will also allow to optimize oversize baggage fees on UTair flights, securing wider availability of the service.

“The introduction of the new baggage allowance rules once again emphasizes UTair’s commitment to meeting the needs of its passengers by introducing modern solutions and best global practices for better operational performance, flight safety and services provided,” said UTair – Passenger Airlines President Alexey Budnik. “We hope that the Piece Concept will make each UTair flight even more comfortable for our passengers.”

According to the new rules, the following baggage allowance restrictions are introduced:

Service class Baggage (max. total dimensions 203 cm) Carry-on (max. total dimensions 115 cm)
Economy class 1 piece, max. 23 kg 1 piece, max. 10 kg
Comfort class 2 pieces, max. 23 kg each 1 piece, max. 10 kg
Business class 2 pieces, max. 32 kg each 2 pieces, max. 10 kg each
Allowance for infants travelling on lap (under 2 years) Choice between 1 piece of baggage or 1 piece of carry-on, max. 10 kg, applies to all classes
Privileges for high-level STATUS program members Premium: 1 additional piece of baggage
VIP: 2 additional pieces of baggage

In the event a passenger’s total baggage weight, including carry-on baggage, does not exceed 10 kg, the limit for number of baggage pieces does not apply.

This arrangement means the total free baggage and carry-on allowance on UTair flights has increased by 13 kg for economy class passengers, by 26 kg for comfort class passengers and by 44 kg for those travelling in business class. At the same time limits for the maximum amount of baggage pieces have been introduced.

In addition to the standard baggage allowance stated in the flight ticket, passengers are allowed to transport baby carriages, wheelchairs, one set of ski/snowboarding equipment with additional gear (poles, boots, helmet) free of charge.
