OREANDA-NEWS. Essar Power Gujarat, which owns and operates the 1,200 MW imported coal fired thermal power plant in DevbhumiDwarka district of Gujarat, achieved yet another environmental accolade by winning the 16th National Award for excellence in Energy Management 2015, conferred by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

EPGL won this award for undertaking various innovative energy conservation projects, reducing specific energy consumption in plant and thereby reducing carbon emissions considerably in last three years.

EPGL was shortlisted amongst all the Power Plants (Captive as well as Independent power plants) in the Top 10 Energy efficient units across the country. This moment becomes all the more special as EPGL is the youngest power station to win this award, competing with big stalwarts of the country in thermal power category.

EPGL is amongst the best run and operated coal fired power plants in the country. In the recent past, EPGL had received Clean Coal Award for the lowest Sulphur Dioxide (SO2) and Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) emission amongst all coal fired power plants in the country.
