Rayong Olefins plans 4Q 2016 cracker maintenance

OREANDA-NEWS. Thai petrochemicals producer Rayong Olefins plans to shut down its 800,000 t/yr naphtha cracker at Mab Ta Phut for maintenance in next year's final quarter.

The cracker, with a propylene production capacity of 400,000 t/yr, is expected to be shut down over 2 November-20 December.

It is unclear yet if the company will have to shut down downstream affiliates of parent company Siam Cement Group that draw feedstock from the cracker. These include Thai Polyethylene, which has the capacity to produce 980,000 t/yr of high-density polyethylene, 100,000 t/yr of low-density polyethylene and 110,000 t/yr of linear low-density polyethylene.

Thai Polypropylene, which has production capacity of 750,000 t/yr of polypropylene, also draws feedstock from the Mab Ta Phut cracker.
