OREANDA-NEWS. Doosan Corporation announced on September 9 that it signed the “Business Agreement for Mutual Prosperity and Development of Dongdaemun and Doosan” with the Dongdaemun Fashion Town Special Tourist Zone Association, with an aim to promote the development of the Dongdaemun Fashion Town, attract more foreign tourists, and invigorate tourism, culture, and business in Dongdaemun.

The signing ceremony was held at Doosan Tower and was participated by Hyunsoo Dong, president of Doosan Corporation Business Division, Seokki Hong, president of the Dongdaemun Fashion Town Special Tourist Zone Association, and about a dozen other guests.

The Dongdaemun Fashion Town Special Tourist Zone Association was formed by the government in 2002 when the Dongdaemun Fashion Town was designated as a special tourist zone. The association has a membership of more than thirty wholesale and retail fashion shopping complexes in the Dongdaemun Fashion Town.

“We talked about how we can best revive the economy in the Dongdaemun district and the need to have a duty-free shop,” a relevant person of Doosan, said. “The association expressed its active support for Doosan’s effort to win a bid for duty-free operations in Dongdaemun.”

On September 2, Doosan announced that it will apply for a duty-free operator license to build a duty-free shopping mall in downtown Seoul.
